Major accidents are an important issue for process industries and is essential to improve the conditions. These accidents in process industries threat the life of people, loss of property and irrecoverable damages to the environment. Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies are the foundation of process safety and risk management. PHA helps prevent injury, loss of life, asset and environmental damage. The first step in in this study is recognizing all potential hazards related to the process under study, called Hazard Identification or shortly HAZID. The second step is hazard analysis and risk assessment. The third and final step is to specify reduction measures such as inherently safer design, Basic Process Control System, primary and secondary protections. In this workshop HAZOP-LOPA-SIL assessment procedures will be discussed in order to minimize risk of major accidents to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).
